Spin A Yarn Steakhouse Celebrates 75 Years of Legacy, Leadership, and Community in Fremont

FREMONT, CA — April 30, 2026 — Spin A Yarn Steakhouse, a Fremont landmark since 1951, proudly celebrates its 75th Anniversary with a special community event on Thursday, April 30, beginning at 5:00 PM sharp with an official ribbon-cutting ceremony led by Mayor Raj Salwan.

As part of the celebration, the City of Fremont will present an official proclamation recognizing Spin A Yarn Steakhouse’s 75 years of service, contribution to the local economy, and lasting impact on the community.

For 75 years, Spin A Yarn has been more than a steakhouse—it has been a place where stories are shared, relationships are built, and generations of families return time and time again.

This milestone event will feature:
 • Food and drink specials
 • Live music by Exit 39
 • A special toast honoring owner Saki Kavouniaris

The celebration also honors the legacy of those who built Spin A Yarn into what it is today. Following its early years, the restaurant was carried forward by Johnny “D” Sakkaris, who owned and operated the business for over 30 years, helping establish its reputation as a cornerstone of the Fremont dining scene.

For the past 31 years, current owner Saki Kavouniaris has continued that legacy—guiding the restaurant through decades of change, including economic challenges and the impact of COVID-19, while remaining committed to quality, hospitality, and community.

It’s a story rooted in tradition—and in the American dream—built by immigrants whose hard work, resilience, and pride continue to shape the heart of this community.

Spin A Yarn Steakhouse also gained national recognition after being featured on FOX’s “Kitchen Nightmares” with Gordon Ramsay, where its historic name and identity were proudly preserved.

“Reaching 75 years is a testament to the strength of this community and the people who have supported us over the years,” said ownership. “We are honored to continue serving Fremont and to celebrate this milestone with everyone who has been part of our journey.”
